Following this year’s 315 party, CCTV pointed out that long-term vaping can also lead to nicotine dependence. On April 3, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning that electronic cigarettes may be at risk of causing seizures.

Researchers reportedly surveyed data from the National Trends Survey on Tobacco Products and Risk Awareness, administered by the Center for Tobacco Management Science at Georgia State University, and Health Information, administered by the National Cancer Institute, both of which are nationally representative annual surveys of American adults.

When the results of the two surveys were combined, the proportion of people who believed that e-cigarettes were less harmful than ordinary cigarettes dropped from 45% in 2012 to 35% in 2017.

Research published on March 29 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shows that the number of people who think that e-cigarettes are as harmful as cigarettes has increased to 45% during this period, while the proportion who think that e-cigarettes are more harmful is still very low, less than 10%
