According to vapingpost, two major cities in California, Los Angeles and San Jose, are expected to ban flavored e-cigarettes and tobacco products in the coming weeks.

Proponents of the proposal claim that banning candy and fruit flavored e-cigarettes and tobacco products (all minors are not legally allowed to buy) will attract children to some extent and become addicted to nicotine.
Dr. John Ma, board member of the American Heart Association, said that flavored tobacco products need to be completely eliminated from the national market. “The tobacco industry continues to attract children to use scented products. Today’s young people are the next generation of smokers,” Ma said.
The San Jose parliament will consider ending the sale of all flavors of tobacco products in the city, including flavored juice and mint cigarettes. However, the city plans to exempt hookah from statewide tobacco regulations.
San Jose City Council member PAM Foley led the issue locally. Foley told the local media, “our city must do everything possible to ensure that our children are not addicted to electronic cigarette products, which are harmful to our children’s long-term health.”
Chappie Jones, vice mayor of San Jose, said that if the San Jose City Council takes action to ban the sale of flavored tobacco, the new regulations will take effect 30 to 60 days after the effective vote.
Interestingly, San Jose is one of the largest cities in the San Francisco Bay area. San Francisco City and county is the first major city in the United States to ban the sale of e-cigarettes and flavored tobacco products.
In Los Angeles, a similar proposal to ban flavored tobacco products is under debate. Los Angeles has taken major action against e-cigarettes. Now, members of a local community in the city are lobbying the City Council to ban the sale of all flavored tobacco products within the city.
“Flavored tobacco is still available in pharmacies in Los Angeles. It’s easy to buy,” a student activist opposed to flavored tobacco and e-cigarettes said at a news conference. “Young people are tempted to try this method every day, which is very dangerous.”. Los Angeles is expected to take action on the proposal in the coming weeks.
