Juul e-cigarettes has had good news since CEO Kevin Burns announced his resignation on September 26.
Joe Murillo, director of Altria’s supervision, recently joined Juul as its chief supervision officer, the tobacco industry news reported.
It is understood that Joe Murillo is a senior in the tobacco industry and previously was the head of regulatory affairs at Altria group.
Joe Murillo has led Altria’s Nu mark steam product subsidiary and developed its regulatory strategy for the recent launch of IQOS in the United States.
In his new role, Murillo will help Juul labs submit applications to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by May next year for products Juul that wants to continue selling after May.
Bonnie Herzog, an analyst at Wells Fargo, welcomed Juul’s appointment.
“We believe that Murillo’s participation in the Juul team underlines Altria’s confidence in Juul and its commitment to helping Juul re position itself as a ‘responsible role’ in the eyes of the FDA / government,” she said.
