Cannabidiol, or CBD as it is also known, is a phytochemical that has many medical properties. It is one of the three main chemicals found in marijuana, along with THC and CBD. Cannabidiol was first discovered by German scientists during the 1940s. It is currently one of the potent phytochemicals found in cannabis, accounting for up to 40% of this plant’s medicinal material. Many studies have been done on this chemical, and much research remains to be done. This article will focus on just two of the many medicinal properties of CBD.
Chronic Pain Solution
One of the most common ailments associated with CBD is chronic pain. Two studies were done by groups at the University of Mississippi and the University of Georgia. Both groups tested both L-group (nontraditional marijuana smokers) and CBD/ THC combination. In the test group, which included chronic pain patients, both CBD and THC combined produced significantly less pain than those subjects given only L-group cannabis. In another test, which involved controls, CBD alone produced no significant change in mean pain scores.
There are other diseases that can be managed with CBD. In one human study, CBD was shown to reduce seizures in children suffering from epileptic seizures. In another, CBD was shown to protect against the progression of degenerative brain disease in humans with Alzheimer’s. It was also shown to relieve anxiety and depression in patients with multiple sclerosis. These results come from double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies. No adverse side effects have been recorded in either study.
M.S and Epilepsy
Besides epilepsy, there are multiple sclerosis conditions that CBD can help treat. Patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and using CBD to alleviate symptoms associated with this condition have had great success with the use of CBD for many years. Two common conditions that CBD is helpful in treating are pain and inflammation. Both inflammation and pain are often connected to conditions such as arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, and sickle-cell anemia. When CBD is used, it seems to be a particularly effective treatment for inflammation related to these conditions, but the exact cause of this is not known.
CBD has also been shown to be helpful in the treatment of multiple sclerosis-related muscle spasticity. Spasticity refers to abnormal muscle contractions or spasms. Muscle spasticity is usually the result of the lack of nutrients or reduced blood supply to a specific body part. This can occur in any area of the body, but it is most commonly found in the arms, legs, and face.
Scientists believe that CBD may have some effect on the body’s genetic coding. If this is true, then CBD could be used to treat genetic diseases such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s, and even some forms of cancer. The Cannabidiol chemical compounds in CBD are believed to act like immunoreactions, meaning they react with cells by causing a reaction that results in the cell death of that specific cell. Scientists have shown that there is a reduction in seizures in children who are administered high doses of CBD. This is all the evidence that scientists need to convince more doctors to give CBD supplements to patients with neurological disorders.
Side Effects
When it comes to side effects, there are very few. Since CBD is non-psychoactive, it has no ill side effects. However, some people do report experiencing minor mood swings, drowsiness, and mild nausea when taking CBD. These side effects subside once the dosage of CBD is reduced or eliminated. In fact, there have been no reported deaths from taking CBD, although there have been reports of dizziness in extremely small children and adults. As with all medications, there is always the possibility of someone becoming extremely ill from CBD, but none have died from the drug yet.
For people who have had adverse reactions to other prescription medications, CBD may be able to help reduce their dependence on them. Research into the effectiveness of CBD is still ongoing, but it is believed that cbd can be used to reduce the symptoms of ADHD, epilepsy, depression, fatigue, pain, and nausea. So far, there have been no serious side effects from taking CBD. If you’re considering trying cbd for any of the conditions it can help relieve, please speak to your doctor. You should also be aware that the amount of CBD in any product can vary, depending on how potent it is. So talk to your pharmacist before purchasing CBD.
