Review: Wenax K2 – Geekvape

Share

A flat, lightweight pod

The Wenax K2 follows in the footsteps of other pods in the Wenax range. The finish is really high quality. You can vape using automatic firing or press the fire button yourself. It comes with 2 different cartridges, so you can vary your vaping experience.

Still simple, still effective

The front of the Wenax K2 is dominated by a large fire button. Just one push makes your vapour. It’s transparent but doesn’t light up when you fire up. The 3 LEDs just under it show your battery charge level and that the Wenax K2 is working properly.

You can also vape just by inhaling, so you don’t even need to push the button. That’s even easier. We didn’t notice any real lag between starting to inhale and it starting to make vapour in this mode.

There’s a USB-C port on the side of the Wenax K2 so you can fast-charge the built-in 1000 mAh battery. Its battery life is about average for current products of this size. The cartridges supplied are quite energy-efficient, so there’s no need to recharge your pod umpteen times a day. You can also vape while it’s charging.

On the opposite side there’s a slider. This lets you adjust the amount of air coming in to cool the coil in the cartridge. It also changes the feel of the vape and the volume of vapour it makes for you to inhale. When it’s fully open, it lets in the maximum airflow. The result is a very responsive, cloudy, indirect inhalation vape (mouth then lungs, like a tobacco cigarette). You can also vape with a very tight draw using direct inhalation (directly into your lungs). When there’s hardly any airflow, you get a very tight draw.

You fill the 2 ml cartridge by lifting the silicone cap on the side. We’d recommend using narrow bottle tips which will be easier and prevent clogging.

The cartridge sits on top of the body of the Wenax K2. It’s held in place by a system of rigid notches. The hold is excellent – there’s no play at all. We dropped ours from a height of about 90 cm and the cartridge did not come off the battery.
The transparent tank means you can see how much e-liquid is left at any time without having to remove it.

Two cartridges come with the Wenax K2. One has a 0.8 ohm coil for use between 12 and 16 W, and the other has a 1.2 ohm coil for power levels from 10 to 12 W.

Geekvape has really designed these models for indirect inhalation, but you can also vape with very restricted direct inhalation if you use the 0.8 ohm coil. As always with the Wenax range, you get excellent flavour. It’s clear, complex and true. The vapour volumes it makes are consistent with the ohm values of the coils.

We’re disappointed that the cartridges are disposable, because you have to replace the whole thing when the wick and coil wear out.
