According to foreign reports, the Malaysian Ministry of Health said that a regulatory bill on tobacco, e-cigarettes, e-cigarettes and hookah will be submitted to the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of the federal legislature of Malaysia next year.

It is reported that the bill can be proposed in the first quarter at the latest. The Ministry confirmed this.

In its reply yesterday, it said that the bill was first drafted in 2016 and sent to the attorney general’s office for promulgation in August 2019, but later returned to the Ministry of justice due to government change. The Ministry said the bill would pave the way for comprehensive regulation of traditional tobacco products and new e-cigarettes and other e-cigarette products.

It also indicated that it had applied to the Legal Affairs Department of the prime minister’s office for a date for the submission of the bill.
