France starts the third level anti epidemic warning e-cigarette store will be closed

According to reports, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced the implementation of a level 3 new crown virus (covid-19) alert, resulting in the closure of all unnecessary stores, including e-cigarette stores.

With France formally transitioning to the third phase in the prevention of the coronavirus epidemic, the prime minister has asked all unnecessary businesses to remain closed. This means that only food companies, pharmacies, service stations, banks and tobacco companies are allowed to open.

E-cigarette stores are not on the list of businesses that are allowed to continue business, but they can still send orders by delivery or collection. An e-cigarette store in Paris announced on instagram: for any order and delivery, please contact us by phone or email. The only exception is the e-cigarette store in the shopping center, because they have to close the curtains.

It was only recently that tobacco shops had the right to remain open and to ask for financial assistance, which outraged many e-cigarette businesses. In an article, l630 Yann bisiou, a lecturer in private law at the University of Montpellier, said the wording of the decree was vague.

“If the drafting of the act of 14 March 2020 is ambiguous, it can be concluded from the provisions of this article that e-cigarette stores are not affected by the ban and can continue their activities unless they are installed in shopping malls.

Jean moiroud, President of fivape, said he had contacted the Minister of health to request an extension of the authorization to open e-cigarette stores “on the basis of public health”. Siiv explained on its Facebook page that it “is making every effort to expand the list of companies that can continue to operate” and has contacted fivape, in which direction eduse and sowape are taking joint action.
