The Value of E-cigarettes as Smoking Cessation Aids

Share

According to a report from planetofthevapes on August 31st, a team from the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in the United States has conducted the largest-ever study on e-cigarettes, demonstrating their value as a tool for smoking cessation.

E-cigarettes contain harmful chemicals, which has led many public health advocates to avoid them. However, they are less harmful than traditional cigarettes, which can cause more than a dozen types of cancer, as well as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,” said MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.

This new study, which is the largest e-cigarette trial in the United States, suggests that the use of e-cigarettes encourages people to quit smoking – even those who participated in the study and expressed no intention to quit smoking.

The team’s research findings have been published in this month’s eClinical Medicine journal, showing that those who received e-cigarette products exhibited higher cessation rates and less harm compared to those who did not receive e-cigarette products. However, the researchers also stated, “No one wants kids to have e-cigarettes, and we should do everything we can to prevent this from happening. But we shouldn’t deny this option to adult smokers who are unable to quit.
