Last month JT announced that it would lower the suggested retail price of the Ploom TECH + Starter Kit from 4,980 yen to 2,980 yen.
Meanwhile, the suggested retail price of the Ploom TECH Starter Kit will also be adjusted from 3,000 yen to 2,500 yen, and the new price has taken effect in Japan since February 1, 2020.
Japan Tobacco announced in November 2019 that from December 1, the suggested retail price of the Ploom S package will be reduced from 7,980 yen to 3,480 yen ($ 31.90), a 56% decrease.
The company said fewer people tried and switched to Ploom S due to fierce competition from Philip Morris iQOS, which lowered its annual profit forecast.
“Ploom TECH and Ploom TECH + are very popular with consumers. We have decided to lower the price of the device so that more consumers can enjoy the product,” Japan Tobacco said.
