4 essential facts about flavor concentrates and ejuice

Share

Why is my DIY e-juice tasteless?

We recommend mixing the flavour between 8-15% and all our flavour concentrates are 100% PG based. If you use too much of a flavoring, olfactory fatigue (vapors tongue) sets in almost immediately and you won’t be able to taste your e-liquid. So if you find your recipe doesn’t taste like anything except sweet air, look at your percentages and see if any are over 8-10%.

Why does my vape juice have no taste?

Low Battery. Usually, if the battery is the culprit, you should notice the flavor dropping off a little at a time as it discharges. This is because as the batteries drain, they become less efficient at vaporizing the PG that carries the flavor in your juice. Vaping can sometimes cause a dry mouth simply by requiring so much mouth breathing (inhaling a vape), which can dry up saliva. When we don’t have enough saliva, the ability to taste is almost non-existent. Flavor fatigue is another culprit behind vape tongue resulting in you not tasting your e-juice.

How do you add flavor to e-juice?

If you already know how to mix, it’s really easy: make your e-juice as normal, but when you come to add the flavourings, simply use the flavour concentrate in place of your normal mixture of individual flavourings. When you get your package, use the pipettes to drip about 10-20 drops of flavoring in one of your empty bottles. Fill your bottle up to the middle with PG and the rest with VG. Shake and set aside for a few hours to let the bubbles settle. Try your vape juice, and adjust to taste. You can mix flavors into your e-liquid, even your nic-salt liquids! Second, you should stick with flavors that go well together: vanilla and coffee, peaches and mango, cookies with caramel, etc. Lastly, you should also make sure that both vape juices have the same VG/PG ratio (70/30, 60/40, 50/50).

What is e-liquid flavoring made of?

E-liquid is made up from just a few different ingredients: Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG), water, flavourings and nicotine. E-liquids typically feature both PG and VG, with one of the two often more dominant than the other. Flavour concentrates essentially give you the flavouring mixtures of your favourite e-juices without the PG, VG and nicotine to make it into a full e-juice (although they’re generally diluted in PG). You can pick them up in a variety of sizes, but most of the time you’ll get 30 ml of the concentrate.
