A complete pod

Weighing 70g, the Gen PT 80 S can be described as ultra-light. It is the perfect companion to start direct to lung vaping, or even for a user looking for an ergonomic e-cigarette with many quantities.

Ergonomic and simple to use

The most striking thing about this pod is its ergonomics. It’s the ideal companion for vaping on the go. Its weight and its rounded shape, plus the total absence of metal in its design make it look quite basic. But looks can be deceiving. It is robust and resilient to impacts. The grip on the back of the mod makes it more comfortable to hold. The magnetic cartridge on the mod makes it easy to change the coils.

The 0.91″ OLED screen on the front of the pod is easy to read and displays all the information you need to use it. Pressing the fire button three times locks the “+” and “-” buttons. Pressing the fire button and the + button for one second reverses the direction of the display.

Simultaneously pressing the “+” and “-” buttons gives access to the menu. There are three operating modes with a few secondary options: variable voltage, variable power or “smart” variable power and a “plug & play” mode enabling the user to adapt the power easily to the coil value. Another option resets the mode to the factory values.

The pod is charged using a type C USB port which is increasingly widely used in the models on the market. However, using a battery that is not built in means it can be charged using an external charger, which is strongly advised. On the Gen PT80 S, the box part operates with a 18650 format battery.

The Xtank pod

The Gen PT 80 S has a new type of cartridge, the Xtank pod. The brand promises us new anti-leak technology here, and a double top system which places the air inlet and the filling holes at the top of the atomizer. There were no noticeable leaks during our tests.

Simply turn the upper ring to access the silicone seal to fill the 4.5ml tank. The two airflow inlets on the cartridge only permit direct to lung vaping, and a very airy draw is not possible either.

The Xtank pod is designed to operate with all the coils in the GTX range from 0.15 ohms to 1.2 ohms, although the latter are intended for mouth to lung vaping. The coils designed for the proposed draw should preferably be used. The pod comes with a 0.3 ohm coil and a 0.15 ohm coil.

Vaporesso also announces a new feature in these coils, the morph mesh structure. This delivers the flavours of the liquids tested perfectly with dense vapour. The cotton in the coil is fluffier to better absorb the e-liquid and provides a longer lifetime.

During our tests, we noticed that the 0.3 ohm coil produces better flavours and a more enjoyable vape. The lower 0.15 ohm coil tends to heat up the mod and also generates vapour that is too hot for the cartridge airflow.

In summary

 What we like

  • Flavours
  • The ergonomics
  • Lightness
  • Ease of use

 What we don’t like

  • Vapour too hot with the 0.15 ohm coils
