Review: Gen PT60 – Vaporesso

A practical pod

The Gen PT60 is a light-weight, compact pod mod. It is discreet, weighing in at barely more than 74g, battery included. Its tank is filled from the top and holds 4.5ml. Enough to easily get off to a good start in direct to lung vaping.

Compact and easy to use

There are a few degassing holes under the pod. This is a safety feature supplementing the built-in protection systems in case of problems with the battery. The battery life is also indicated, here 2500 mAh, a value consistent with the size of the pod, but which does not mean there is no need to think about the possibility of having to charge your Gen PT60 if you use it exclusively with the 0.2 ohm coil. The coating on the battery body is slightly grooved, sufficiently low-key not to be uncomfortable to hold but enough to give a good grip.

A fire button on the front generates the electric signal for vapour production. The monochrome screen just below displays the different modes. Two small settings button are used to adjust the settings. The front also has a USB-C port for fast charging or to update the electronics. Everything is well-integrated and there are no annoying clicks.

The Gen PT60 can deliver up to 60W. The information is visible at a glance. The menus are typical of the Gen generation and sufficiently complex to satisfy all types of vaper. However, it must be said that the many options available are not very useful when using a pod tank. Most users will settle for the variable wattage mode or the smart mode which adapts the power to the coil being used. With our model, this mode is not relevant and systematically sets itself to a value higher than that recommended.

The tank is fitted onto the upper part of the battery. A small silicon extension at the base of the connector locks the cartridge in its ideal position. The hold is great and we did not notice any lateral play between the tank and the battery.

A DL tank

The tank is completely transparent. It is easy to see the e-liquid level without removing the cartridge. We will not go over the various technical characteristics of the Xtank pod which we already tested with the Gen PT80S pod.

Unlike the Gen PT80S pod, the power of the two coils is better adapted to the maximum power of the pod. Two mesh GTX coils are supplied. The first is a 0.4 ohm coil for use between 26 and 32W, and the second is 0.2 ohms for a power range of 45 to 60W. The flavours are accurate and well-reconstituted. By rotating the airflow ring, you can adjust the restriction on the draw, which remains direct to lung. The hit is excellent, even with a low nicotine level.

The only downside is the 0.2 ohm coil, which requires a lot of power. This is not a problem in itself, but on a pod that is limited to 60W, combining it with a coil that requires between 45 and 60W is not really appropriate. The battery runs out quickly – too quickly – and charging it is a must if you want to use it for a full day.

In summary

 What we like

  • Lightness
  • Quality of finish
  • Flavour restitution
  • Good quality electronics

 What we don’t like

  • 0.2 ohm coil not really adapted to the battery
  • A lot of menus
