A pod which could be a success
The Argus P1S looks good. It has a nice design, and a pleasant shape…it has everything to succeed. However, the pod is disappointing to use. Not because the flavours aren’t well delivered, but numerous things make it uncomfortable. In a pod market that is ultra-competitive, the Argus P1S doesn’t stand out by its performance.

Numerous design flaws
The Argus P1S is charged by a USB-C connection under the base of the pod. This is standard today and general practice on all the products in this category on the market. The 800 mAh battery is below the average of the competition for a similar format. That’s without taking into account the 0.7 ohm cartridge supplied which quickly eats into the pod’s battery life. It’s a bit of a shame!
What raises the most questions is that it is impossible to vape while the Argus P1S is charging. Either you vape before, or you disconnect the pod from its cable. It’s surprising on this product segment not to have a passthrough, whereas the overwhelming majority of manufacturers provide it.
The Argus P1S doesn’t require any adjustment. No fire button, no airflow adjustment. This is practical and makes it suitable for a first-timer who doesn’t want to bother with a ton of settings. A hole on each side of the upper part of the Argus P1S allows the air to enter the cartridge to cool the coil. We will come back to that later.
In the centre of the Argus P1S, a transparent section reveals the electronics, the Gene chipset. At the heart of this part, an LED lights up when charging and each time you inhale. The colours vary throughout the puff and the visual effect is a success.
The cartridge fits above the battery. It is held in place by magnets which are not strong enough. During our tests, we noticed some lateral play in the cartridge in contact with the lips.
Two cartridges come with the Argus P1S. One contains a sealed 1.2 ohm coil and the other a 0.7 ohm coil. When the coil shows the first signs of deteriorating flavours, the whole thing needs to be changed.
The 1.2 ohm coil is designed for very restrictive indirect inhalation. However, in reality, this is not actually the case.
The flavours are pleasant and true, but the volume of vapour produced and the amount of air entering the cartridge are much too great to claim to be MTL.
The 0.7 ohm coil is even more open and corresponds to a very restrictive direct draw. It is on the low side when it comes to the amount of vapour produced and the quality of the flavours.
Traditionally for a pod, you need to lift the silicone seal to fill the cartridge which has a capacity of 2 ml.
The Argus P1S is disappointing due to the play in the cartridge and its indirect draw which is much too dynamic. Not being able to vape during charging is surprising.
