According to foreign reports, the Democratic Caucus of the Alabama house of representatives said on Wednesday that the Alabama house of Representatives passed a bill on Tuesday to prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes and e-cigarette products to people under the age of 21.
‘we certainly strongly recommend that we make other changes and reforms, but this bill is a starting point and it will increase the sense of responsibility of manufacturers and retailers,’ said representative Barbara Drummond.
In addition to banning the sale of e-cigarettes and e-cigarette products to people under the age of 21, the bill will create a database to track retail stores to monitor their compliance with the law and regulate advertising to ensure that minors are not targeted when they are passed by minors.
There may also be other regulations on tobacco use, including classifying electronic cigarette devices and nicotine substitutes as tobacco products and punishing businesses that sell such products to teenagers instead of criminalizing minors.
Drummond said it is challenging to pass more tobacco legislation because of the participation of many stakeholders with conflicts of interest.
