Philip Morris International is sued by Dutch anti tobacco organization for HNB advertising

Share

Nvwa, the Dutch food safety agency, is investigating a campaign launched by PMI to promote smoke-free alternatives, the daily news of the Netherlands reported.

PMI has launched a new website for these products and posted a page advertisement on the website, in which the company said Dutch smokers have the right to information about smoke-free alternatives.

Although the name of the product was not mentioned, the advertisement did include the brand name of the company.

It is reported that advertising for tobacco products is illegal in the Netherlands.

The Nvwa investigation followed a complaint from an anti smoking organization. If the PMI is found to have violated the ban, it will be fined up to 450000 euros (about $546010).
