The Vuse Solo is a compact closed-system e-cigarette, but a current buying guide needs to separate device simplicity from regulatory status. In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) currently lists the Solo power unit and two Original 4.8% tobacco-flavoured cartridges as authorized products. That authorization does not mean the products are safe or “FDA approved.”

Vuse Solo status in 2026
The FDA’s current authorized e-cigarette list includes three Vuse Solo products:

The distinction matters because older listings may show other Solo flavours. In March 2023, the FDA denied marketing applications for Vuse Solo Menthol 4.8% G1 and G2. The agency said those products must not be marketed or distributed in the United States without authorization. Ten other non-tobacco Solo cartridges had also received denial orders.

The earlier article described the device as roughly 120 mm long and repeated an estimated 300-puff figure. Those numbers do not appear in the marketing order, so they should not be treated as verified Solo specifications.
What the closed format changes
Solo is a closed system: the battery works with proprietary pre-filled cartridges rather than a refillable tank. That removes e-liquid filling and coil replacement from routine use, but it also limits the user to compatible cartridges. The small battery and low fixed output make the product simple, but they do not prove how long one charge or cartridge will last for every user. - Match the exact name. In the United States, check for the Solo power unit or Original 4.8% G1/G2 cartridge names shown on the FDA list.
- Do not assume every flavour is authorized. Solo menthol products received marketing denial orders, and an old listing or remaining stock does not establish lawful marketing status.
- Check compatibility. Confirm that the cartridge is intended for the Solo power unit rather than another Vuse device.
- Inspect packaging. Avoid opened, damaged or untraceable packs. Retailers should verify stock with their supplier when the product name or status is unclear.
- Check local rules. The FDA list addresses U.S. federal marketing authorization. State, local and non-U.S. sales rules can differ.
Health and cessation context
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are no safe tobacco products, adults who have never used tobacco should not start, and no e-cigarette has been approved by the FDA as a smoking-cessation aid. E-cigarettes may have potential benefit for non-pregnant adults who smoke only when used as a complete substitute for smoked tobacco; prolonged dual use does not deliver that complete-switch benefit.
