According to a report by Meduza Media on September 27, Anton Alikhanov, the Governor of Russia’s Kaliningrad Region, has proposed a complete ban on e-cigarettes.
Governor Alikhonov expressed in his Telegram channel that he unequivocally and permanently prohibits e-cigarettes. He emphasized that the idea is not sophisticated, but rather clear. It is evident that advertising and promotion primarily target children. The existing ban on selling e-cigarettes to children has proven ineffective, hence the necessity for a comprehensive prohibition.
On February 9th, Mr. Alikhonov proposed a complete ban on e-cigarettes. He claimed that due to the presence of e-cigarettes, schools have recorded cases of poisoning and fainting.
Starting from September 1st, Russia is expected to have set the minimum prices for e-cigarettes and e-cigarette liquid. The government has plans to determine these prices, although the corresponding regulations have yet to be implemented. Additionally, the Russian government intends to approve a list of ingredients and flavor additives that can exacerbate nicotine addiction, which will be prohibited in the production of e-cigarettes.
