According to vapingpost, a well-known e-cigarette manufacturer in the United States, Juul has filed six trademark infringement lawsuits against e-cigarette store owners selling counterfeit Juul products in five states, vapingpost reported. Juul now announced that as many as 20 lawsuits will be filed in the next two months.
Last month, Juul filed a patent infringement complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in Washington, D.C., disclosing the names of more than 40 companies that are importing counterfeit cigarettes for their equipment.
The manufacturer has also filed six trademark infringement lawsuits in Alabama, New Hampshire, New York, Tennessee and Texas, mainly against e-cigarette merchants selling counterfeit, copied and non genuine Juul products and related packaging. This means that the products were originally sold in overseas markets but illegally imported into the United States.
Juul labs has now announced that there will be more lawsuits, and the U.S. International Trade Commission said it was considering Juul’s request to prevent the import and sale of unauthorized e-cigarettes.
The lawsuits are part of Juul’s global enforcement program, which aims to disrupt the illegal trade in the e-cigarette market, provide a more responsible market for current adult users, and address the use of minors, and more importantly, the brand is constantly striving to regain its credibility.
