The federal Food and Drug Administration is penalizing a Chapel Street vape shop for the sales of e-cigarette liquid products to minors based on the inspection documents. The penalty involves the payment of $570.
On Facebook, The White Buffalo is promoted as first vape lounge in New Haven. However, when an FDA-commissioned inspector inspected the establishment, he discovered the sales of “Cream Monster Waterstraw” e-liquid product to a minor on Jan. 3, 2018. This is stated in a document highlighting the reason the establishment is facing the civil penalty.
A warning letter was sent to the establishment stating that the clerk in charge of the sale did not ask the minor to identify himself. It is stipulated in the letter that violating any rules in the future could bring about a civil penalty, according to the documents.
Another inspection was carried out on Jan. 9, 2019, and the inspector discovered the sales of a JUUL Menthol e-liquid product to a minor.
According to the documents, there was no verification of the age of the person by requesting for photo identification.
The establishment is to pay $570 civil penalty to FDA.
According to the documents, it is possible for the business to request for a hearing within 30 days of being notified of the penalty.
