Banning the sale of flavored e-cigarettes in the Netherlands to reduce the smoking rate of teenagers

Dutch government will extend current smoking legislation to e-cigarettes from July 1, and also plan to ban tobacco products containing spices in e-cigarettes, Dutch media Dutch news reported.

The measures, outlined in a briefing to the Dutch Parliament on Tuesday, aim to reduce the attractiveness of smoking to teenagers. Starting next school year, smoking will be banned in school playground in Holland.

Earlier this year, a study in Holland showed that 27% of 12 to 16 year olds had used e-cigarettes and 44% of vocational school and university students had used e-cigarettes. The research shows that the taste of e-cigarettes is attractive to young people, and its price is relatively low.
